Stitch Bullfinches in Rowanberries, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — two bullfinches with rosy-red breasts and black caps perch among bare, frosty branches heavy with clusters of red rowan berries. Worked in 18 colours of DMC stranded cotton on grey Aida for a soft, snowy feel.

A little stitcher's folklore: rowan was planted by the door to protect a home, and bullfinches arriving with the first frosts were said to bring a snowy, cosy winter. Stitchers say this pair keeps the whole house safe till spring.

Why this kit: if you love winter birds and seasonal decor, this is a calm, pretty design you'll want to hang every year. A lovely gift for bird watchers and a perfect Christmas or winter present.

Kit includes: 14-count grey Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 18 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the birds' black caps and red breasts, then stitch the rowan clusters. Finish with the branches and frost — the grey fabric does much of the background for you.

Finished size: 22×33 cm (8.66×12.99 in). A wintry bird picture to frame and a lovely seasonal gift.

RTO cross stitch kit is very nice with pre separated floss and larger chart that is easy to read. This vender shipped quickly, shipped free, and price was good.
