Stitch Red Mermaid, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a mermaid with a wild mane of fiery red hair sits on a dark rock seen from behind, her shimmering tail catching the light in the deep sea. Stitched on navy Aida for a moody, magical glow. Worked in 48 colours of DMC stranded cotton.

A little stitcher's folklore: sailors believed that seeing a mermaid meant a change was coming, and a mermaid's comb or mirror in the home was a charm for beauty and luck at sea. Stitchers say this one sings only good fortune.

Kit includes: 14-count navy Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 48 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red hair, working the darkest strands first, then the skin tones and the shimmering tail. The navy fabric carries much of the background, making the colours pop.

Finished size: 25.5×36 cm (10.04×14.17 in). A magical fantasy picture to frame and a memorable handmade gift.

While I have not started the project yet, all supplies are very organized and of good quality. I am excited to start this larger project as a gift for a friend.\nThe only complaint is that this kit does not come with a hoop to work the project on. As someone who likes to use hoops are frames for old projects, it was a bit troublesome to purchase the kit and still need to go out and buy a big enough hoop for this larger project.
