Stitch Merry Christmas!, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a big glossy red Christmas bauble with a white silhouette of an angel blowing a trumpet, hanging from a gold ribbon beside a smaller red ornament. Worked in 20 colours of DMC stranded cotton on white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: hanging a new ornament each year was said to bring a year of blessings, and an angel on the tree watched over the house through the holidays. Stitchers say this angel announces good news every December.

Why this kit: if you love elegant Christmas decor, this red bauble is bold, simple and quick to stitch. A lovely Christmas gift or card, and a piece you'll bring out every year.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 20 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red shading of the bauble, leaving the angel silhouette unstitched, then add the highlights. Finish with the gold ribbon and the small ornament.

Finished size: 18.5×15 cm (7.28×5.91 in). A festive picture to frame and a thoughtful Christmas gift.
