Stitch Skating, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a little girl in a big green knitted hat and a warm coat pulls a red sled through the snow, while two pigeons peck at the ground beside her. Worked in 18 colours of DMC stranded cotton on grey Aida for a soft, wintry sky.

A little stitcher's folklore: the first sled ride of the season was said to set the luck for the whole winter, and birds staying close meant a gentle one. Stitchers say this girl is heading for a happy snow day.

Why this kit: if you love cosy winter scenes, this is a sweet, quick stitch that brings back childhood snow days. A lovely Christmas gift and a perfect pair with RTO's Dancing with Snowflakes.

Kit includes: 14-count grey Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 18 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the girl's face and green hat, then her coat and the red sled. Finish with the two pigeons and the snowy ground.

Finished size: 15×20 cm (5.91×7.87 in). A cheerful winter picture to frame and a sweet Christmas gift.
