Stitch Winter on the Roofs, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a jumble of colourful little houses with snow-covered rooftops, crooked chimneys and glowing yellow windows, with birds perched on the wires, all in whimsical turquoise, violet, red and gold. Worked in 28 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: smoke rising straight from the chimneys on a winter's night was said to mean fine weather and a happy home. Stitchers say every lit window here has a family waiting for Christmas.

Why this kit: if you love whimsical winter scenes, these snowy rooftops are fun and cosy to stitch. A lovely Christmas gift and a cheerful winter decoration.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 28 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Stitch the houses one at a time, starting with the dark outlines, windows and chimneys, then the coloured walls and roofs. Finish with the snow and the birds on the wires.

Finished size: 27.5×33.5 cm (10.83×13.19 in). A cosy winter picture to frame and a cheerful Christmas gift.
