Stitch Macaw, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a blue-and-gold macaw hangs playfully upside down from a branch, showing off its rich blue wings and golden face, framed by tropical leaves in silver-grey and green. Worked in 23 colours of DMC stranded cotton on fine 18-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: parrots were once kept as lucky birds that brought laughter and good conversation into a home. Stitchers say this one is always in a good mood.

Why this kit: if you love tropical birds and modern botanical style, this macaw is striking, colourful and a satisfying stitch. A great gift for parrot owners and a lovely pair with RTO's Toucan.

Kit includes: 18-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 23 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the macaw's face and eye, then build up the blue feathers with their shading. Finish with the tropical leaves around it.

Finished size: 13.5×22.5 cm (5.31×8.86 in). A bold tropical picture to frame and a memorable gift for bird lovers.
