Stitch Toucan, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a toucan with a bright rainbow bill, a yellow chest and glossy black feathers perches on a mossy branch, framed by elegant gold and silver fern fronds. Worked in 22 colours of DMC stranded cotton on fine 18-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: in South American tradition the toucan is a bird of good cheer and a messenger between worlds, and seeing one is said to mean it's time to be seen and heard. Stitchers say this one brightens every room.

Kit includes: 18-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 22 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the colourful bill and the eye, then fill the black and yellow feathers. Finish with the gold and silver ferns behind the bird.
