Stitch Summer Beauty, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a peacock butterfly with rich red wings and bold blue-and-yellow eyespots rests among slender blades of green grass. Worked in 17 colours of DMC stranded cotton on grey Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a butterfly visiting you is said to bring good news, and the peacock butterfly's eyespots were once thought to watch over the garden. Stitchers say this one keeps an eye on your happiness.

Why this kit: if you love butterflies and nature studies, this is a vivid, quick stitch that looks great on its own or with RTO's other insect designs. A lovely gift for gardeners.

Kit includes: 14-count grey Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 17 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the dark wing outlines and eyespots, then fill the red wings. Finish with the grass blades.

Finished size: 20×13.5 cm (7.87×5.31 in). A vivid butterfly picture to frame and a lovely gift for nature lovers.
