Stitch Lightsome, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a fluffy white cat with striking blue eyes walks softly towards you, its long fur fading gently into the pale grey fabric like a whisper. Worked in 12 colours of DMC stranded cotton on grey Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a white cat was said to bring purity and good luck, and one walking towards you meant happy news on its way. Stitchers say this one brings calm wherever it goes.

Why this kit: if you love cats and soft, minimalist art, this airy white cat is elegant and quick to stitch, as the grey fabric does the background for you. A lovely gift for white cat owners.

Kit includes: 14-count grey Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 12 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the blue eyes, pink nose and face, then build up the white fur with its soft grey shading. Let the edges fade into the fabric.

Finished size: 17.5×28 cm (6.89×11.02 in). An elegant, airy cat picture to frame and a lovely handmade gift.
