Stitch Mouse in Love, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a dreamy little mouse in a grey coat with a red heart pattern leans happily against a huge, shiny red apple. Worked in 27 colours of DMC stranded cotton on mustard Aida for a warm, golden background.

A little stitcher's folklore: an apple cut in half with a whole heart inside was said to show that true love is near. Stitchers say this mouse has already found it.

Why this kit: if you love sweet, whimsical designs, this mouse and apple is small, quick and full of charm. A lovely Valentine's or anniversary gift, or a cheerful kitchen picture.

Kit includes: 16-count mustard Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 27 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the apple, working its deep reds and bright highlights, then the mouse's heart-patterned coat. Finish with the pink ears, nose and long tail.

Finished size: 14×20 cm (5.51×7.87 in). A sweet, romantic little picture to frame and a heartfelt handmade gift.
