Stitch Warmth in Palms, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a playful calico kitten with ginger, black and white patches and bright green eyes is held in a gentle hand drawn in fine lines, its tail swishing below. Worked in 16 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a calico cat is one of the luckiest cats of all — in Japan and America it's said to bring good fortune and money to the home. Stitchers say this little one brings both.

Why this kit: if you love kittens, this lively calico is quick and joyful to stitch. A lovely gift for cat owners, and part of RTO's Warmth in Palms series.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 16 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the green eyes and nose, then the ginger and black patches. Finish with the white fur and the fine outline of the hand.

Finished size: 12.5×17 cm (4.92×6.69 in). A playful kitten picture to frame and a lucky gift for cat lovers.
