Stitch Darling Summer, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a fluffy black cat with golden eyes lies happily among big red, white and pink poppies under a bright blue summer sky. Worked in 39 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a cat sleeping among the flowers was said to bring the garden a whole summer of good luck. Stitchers say this one is taking the job very seriously.

Why this kit: if you love cats and bold florals, this summery design is bright, cheerful and a joy to stitch. A lovely gift for black cat owners and gardeners.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 39 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the cat's golden eyes, then build up the black fur. Finish with the poppies from dark to light and the blue sky.

Finished size: 30×30 cm (11.81×11.81 in). A bright summer picture to frame and a lovely gift for cat lovers.
