Stitch Cats and Flowers, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO from the There Were Cats series — two black cats peek out from a big red coat, hugging an armful of yellow and cream daffodils. Worked in DMC stranded cotton on 14-count grey Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: the first daffodil of spring was said to bring more gold than silver in the year ahead. Stitchers say these two cats have brought a whole bunch of luck.

Kit includes: 14-count grey Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in all the colours you need, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the daffodils, working the deeper yellows first, then the green stems. Finish with the black cats and the red coat.

Finished size: 19×25 cm (7.48×9.84 in). A cheerful spring picture to frame and a lovely handmade gift.
