Stitch Wonderful North, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — bright red fireweed and golden autumn grasses grow among grey boulders, below misty blue northern mountains. Worked in DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: fireweed is the first flower to grow after a forest fire, so northern peoples saw it as a sign of new beginnings. Stitchers say it brings fresh hope to any wall.

Why this kit: if you love wild northern landscapes, this painterly scene is calm, colourful and satisfying to stitch. A lovely gift for hikers and travellers, and part of RTO's Wonderful North series.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in all the colours you need, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red fireweed and golden grasses in the foreground, then the grey boulders. Finish with the soft, misty mountains.

Finished size: 36×24.5 cm (14.17×9.65 in). A wild northern landscape to frame and a lovely gift for nature lovers.
