Stitch Wonderful North, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a mossy green boulder sits beside a calm northern lake, with a bare, twisted tree and red and orange autumn plants, as misty forest fades into the distance. Worked in DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: old stories said the mossy stones by northern lakes were sleeping trolls, and walking past them quietly kept you safe. Stitchers say this one is fast asleep.

Why this kit: if you love wild, peaceful landscapes, this misty lake is calm and meditative to stitch. A lovely gift for nature lovers, and part of RTO's Wonderful North series.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in all the colours you need, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the mossy boulder and bright autumn plants, then the bare tree. Finish with the still water and the soft misty forest.

Finished size: 29.5×20.5 cm (11.61×8.07 in). A peaceful northern landscape to frame and a lovely handmade gift.
