Stitch Wonderful North, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a bush of bright red berries and a patch of golden grass sit on a hillside, below snow-capped mountain peaks and green slopes. Worked in DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a bush heavy with red berries in autumn was said to foretell a long, hard winter. Stitchers say it's a good reason to stay in and stitch.

Why this kit: if you love mountain landscapes, this bright autumn-meets-winter scene is fresh and satisfying to stitch. A lovely gift for travellers, and part of RTO's Wonderful North series.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in all the colours you need, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red berries and branches, then the golden grass. Finish with the green slopes and the white snowy peaks.

Finished size: 21×25.5 cm (8.27×10.04 in). A bright mountain picture to frame and a lovely gift for travellers.
