Stitch In the Moment, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — three bright red poppies sway on tall stems above a golden sandy shore, with waves rolling in beneath a dramatic evening sky. Worked in 44 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: poppies growing by the sea were said to guard sailors' dreams and bring them safely home. Stitchers say these three are keeping watch.

Why this kit: if you love poppies and seaside scenes, this small, colourful picture is quick and rewarding. A lovely gift for gardeners and beach lovers, and part of RTO's In the Moment series.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 44 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red poppies and their dark centres, then the green stems. Finish with the golden sand, the waves and the sky.

Finished size: 12.5×17.5 cm (4.92×6.89 in). A vivid little seaside picture to frame and a quick handmade gift.
