Stitch In the Moment, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — reeds and grasses stand in dark silhouette against a glowing pink sunset, with the orange sun reflected in a calm lake below. Worked in 32 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a red sky at night was said to be the shepherd's delight, promising a fine day tomorrow. Stitchers say this sunset is a very good sign.

Why this kit: if you love sunsets and calm, atmospheric pictures, this small lakeside scene is quick and deeply relaxing to stitch. A lovely gift, and part of RTO's In the Moment series.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 32 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the glowing sun and its reflection, then the pink and violet sky and water. Finish with the dark silhouettes of the reeds.

Finished size: 12×17.5 cm (4.72×6.89 in). A glowing little sunset picture to frame and a calming handmade gift.
