Stitch In the Moment, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — red, orange and yellow poppies bloom on a lake shore, with calm water, misty mountains and soft drifting clouds behind. Worked in 35 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: wild poppies were said to spring up wherever a traveller rested, so a field of them meant a peaceful place. Stitchers say this lake is the perfect place to stop.

Why this kit: if you love poppies and lakeside scenes, this small picture is bright, fresh and quick to finish. A lovely gift for gardeners, and part of RTO's In the Moment series.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 35 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red and orange poppies, then the green stems and leaves. Finish with the lake, the misty mountains and the clouds.

Finished size: 12×17.5 cm (4.72×6.89 in). A bright little lakeside picture to frame and a quick handmade gift.
