Stitch Polar Bear, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a big, soft white polar bear walks slowly through a meadow of pink and purple fireweed, its fur shaded in cream and pale blue. Worked in 30 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: northern peoples called the polar bear the wise one, and seeing one was a sign of strength and good hunting. Stitchers say this one brings quiet strength to any room.

Why this kit: if you love Arctic animals, this gentle polar bear among the flowers is a beautiful and unusual design. A lovely gift for animal lovers, and a pair with RTO's Arctic Summer.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 30 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the bear's face and dark eyes, then build up the soft white fur. Finish with the pink fireweed and green leaves.

Finished size: 16.5×24.5 cm (6.5×9.65 in). A gentle Arctic picture to frame and a lovely handmade gift.
