Stitch Arctic Summer, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a white polar bear sits calmly among tall pink fireweed, gazing out over a blue Arctic bay with soft green hills beyond. Worked in 34 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: fireweed flowers bloom from the bottom of the stalk to the top, and when the last flower opens, northern people said, summer is nearly over. Stitchers say this bear is enjoying every day of it.

Why this kit: if you love Arctic animals and wild landscapes, this peaceful summer scene is unusual and rewarding. A lovely gift for animal lovers, and a pair with RTO's Polar Bear.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 34 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the bear's face and white fur, then the tall pink fireweed. Finish with the blue bay, the hills and the sky.

Finished size: 19×29 cm (7.48×11.42 in). A peaceful Arctic picture to frame and a memorable handmade gift.
