Stitch In the Moment, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a ginger cat sits beside an old wooden chair holding a bouquet of red and pink flowers, bathed in a warm beam of sunlight. Worked in 38 colours of DMC stranded cotton on navy Aida, which gives the scene its soft shadows.

A little stitcher's folklore: a cat sitting in a patch of sunlight was said to be storing up warmth and good luck for the whole house. Stitchers say this one has found the best spot.

Why this kit: if you love cats and cosy interiors, this sunlit scene is warm, atmospheric and a rewarding stitch. A lovely gift for cat lovers, and part of RTO's In the Moment series.

Kit includes: 14-count navy Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 38 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the cat and the sunbeam, then the wooden chair. Finish with the bouquet of flowers and the shadows.

Finished size: 16.5×25.5 cm (6.5×10.04 in). A cosy, sunlit picture to frame and a lovely gift for cat lovers.
