Stitch Swallows, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a girl with long golden hair, her face half hidden, gently holds a swallow in her open hand while another swoops past, with a red thread tied around her wrist. Worked in 41 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: swallows always return home in spring, so sailors had them tattooed as a promise to come back safely. Stitchers say this swallow will always find its way to you.

Why this kit: if you love expressive portraits and birds, this tender design is striking and meaningful. A beautiful gift for someone far away or coming home.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 41 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the swallows' dark blue wings and red faces, then the hand. Finish with the flowing golden hair and the girl's face.

Finished size: 27×27 cm (10.63×10.63 in). A tender, meaningful picture to frame and a heartfelt handmade gift.
