Stitch Winter Island, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a red log cabin with a snowy roof hides among tall white birch trees in deep winter snow. Worked in 32 colours of DMC stranded cotton on grey-beige Aida for a soft, misty winter light.

A little stitcher's folklore: birch trees were said to protect the home from harm, so cabins in the North were built among them. Stitchers say this cabin is the safest place on the island.

Why this kit: if you love Scandinavian winter scenes, this red cabin among the birches is cosy, calm and rewarding to stitch. A lovely gift for cabin lovers and winter decor.

Kit includes: 14-count grey-beige Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 32 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red cabin and its snowy roof, then the white birch trunks with their dark marks. Finish with the soft snow.

Finished size: 36×23.5 cm (14.17×9.25 in). A cosy Nordic winter picture to frame and a lovely handmade gift.
