Stitch Sly and Extremely Beautiful — Macho, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a big, long-haired tabby cat with pale green eyes and a proud, grumpy stare looks down at you as if you owe it dinner. Worked in 31 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a cat that stares you down was said to be judging whether your house is worthy of it. Stitchers say this one has decided it is — just about.

Why this kit: if you love cats with attitude, this realistic tabby portrait is full of character and a rewarding stitch. A perfect gift for owners of grumpy, fluffy cats.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 31 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the green eyes and pink nose, then build up the striped fur from dark to light. Finish with the long white whiskers and cheek fur.

Finished size: 16×20 cm (6.3×7.87 in). A characterful cat portrait to frame and a fun gift for cat lovers.
