Owl Bookstore DIY Book Nook Kit 7 in by Wizardi F07M5-68-SD02

A deep green shopfront with an Owl Bookstore sign, painted roses climbing over the top and an owl and book crest on the door: open it and a warm lit bookshop appears, tall shelves crammed with leather-bound books rising around a reading table with a violin, an antique globe and a green glass banker's lamp, a grandfather clock in the corner, framed pictures on the walls and a red brick base below.

A little crafter's folklore: booksellers say owls guard the wisest books, and miniaturists like to set the owl crest facing the reader's chair.

Why this kit: if you love classic bookshops, this green and gold nook is full of tiny books and curiosities behind an opening door, lit by a soft touch switch.

In the box: pre-cut and printed wooden sheets for the cabinet, doors and base, printed paper sheets for the wallpaper, books, pictures and signs, miniature furniture and accessories, an LED light with a touch switch, and an illustrated instruction manual. Not included: batteries, glue and small tools such as scissors and tweezers.

Part of the same library series as Bookshop Memories, Owl Bookstore and Count Cat's Study, each a cabinet whose doors open onto a lit little room. Build tip: assemble the cabinet shell and base first, furnish the room from the back wall forward, fit the light last, and check the doors open freely before the glue sets.

Size: about 17 cm tall (6.7 in), with an 11.5 x 10 cm footprint (4.5 x 3.9 in). A cosy display for a desk or bookshelf, and a thoughtful gift for book lovers. Recommended for ages 14 and up.
