Build a mountain rose succulent, a mini building block succulent kit by Wizardi: several pale pink rose-shaped rosettes with tightly furled centres sit on a bed of teal green leaves in a round grey pot.

A little builder's folklore: the mountain rose is the succulent that looks like a rose, and growers say it is the perfect way to give roses that last.

Why this kit: if you want a romantic mini gift, these tiny pink roses are quick to build and never wilt.

In the box: small ABS building bricks for the plant and its coloured pot, and an illustrated instruction sheet. Not included: glue or tools, because none are needed.

How to build and display: press the tiny bricks together by hand following the steps, building the pot first and then layering the leaves into a rosette. Collect a few and line them up on a desk, a shelf or a windowsill as a little succulent garden that never needs watering.

Size: 5.5 x 5.5 x 5 cm (2.2 x 2.2 x 2 in). A tiny desk plant, a party favour or a stocking stuffer, and a quick, relaxing build that takes well under an hour. Recommended for ages 14 and up; small parts, keep away from young children.
