Folk Art Pumpkin Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle by Wizardi F07N9-37

Piece together a folk art pumpkin, a wooden jigsaw puzzle by Wizardi: a plump pumpkin painted with blue and orange folk-art flowers and scrollwork and a curling blue stem, with the puzzle cut to the pumpkin's outline.

A little puzzler's folklore: a pumpkin on the doorstep in autumn was said to welcome a good harvest and keep the home warm through winter.

Why this puzzle: if you love autumn decor, the finished pumpkin looks lovely on a shelf all season.

In the box: laser-cut wooden pieces printed with the picture, a mix of classic interlocking pieces and whimsy pieces cut as little animals and figures such as giraffes, butterflies and dragonflies, packed in a gift box with the full picture on the front for reference. The box rates it 5A Challenger. Not included: a puzzle board or frame.

How to build it: turn every piece picture-side up, pick out the outline of the shape and the whimsy figures first, then sort the rest by colour and build inwards, using the box picture as your guide; the wood pieces lock firmly, so a finished section can be moved without falling apart.

Finished size about 29.5 x 29.5 cm (11.6 x 11.6 in) overall, with the outer edge cut around the shape of the design, so it fits a coffee table while you work and a frame afterwards; a lovely gift for puzzle fans, animal and nature lovers and anyone who wants a calm, screen-free evening, and it goes back in the box to build again.
