Make Van Gogh's Cafe Terrace at Night, a 3D paper tole art kit by Wizardi: the glowing yellow cafe awning, the tables on the cobbled street and the deep blue starry sky rise in layers of printed card, finished in a black frame.

A little crafter's folklore: this was the first painting in which Van Gogh used his famous starry sky, a year before The Starry Night.

Why this kit: if you love warm night scenes, the glowing cafe looks wonderful with real depth on a shelf.

In the box: printed card sheets with every layer of the picture, adhesive foam pads for building depth, a black frame with a fold-out easel stand, and instructions. Not included: a craft knife or scissors for trimming.

How to make: cut out each layer and build the picture up from the background, raising each layer on foam pads so the scene gains real depth. Slip the finished picture into the frame and stand it on a desk, shelf or mantel.

A thoughtful gift for art lovers and museum fans, and a relaxing creative project for adults. Recommended for ages 14 and up; small parts, keep away from young children.
