Make Van Gogh's The Bedroom, a 3D paper tole art kit by Wizardi: his little room in Arles with the red bed, blue walls, wooden chairs and green floor rises in layers of printed card, finished in a black frame.

A little crafter's folklore: Van Gogh loved this painting so much that he made three versions of his bedroom.

Why this kit: if you like cosy interiors, the layered furniture makes this one of the most rewarding pictures to build.

In the box: printed card sheets with every layer of the picture, adhesive foam pads for building depth, a black frame with a fold-out easel stand, and instructions. Not included: a craft knife or scissors for trimming.

How to make: cut out each layer and build the picture up from the background, raising each layer on foam pads so the scene gains real depth. Slip the finished picture into the frame and stand it on a desk, shelf or mantel.

A thoughtful gift for art lovers and museum fans, and a relaxing creative project for adults. Recommended for ages 14 and up; small parts, keep away from young children.
