Stitch Raccoon in a Winter Hat, a counted cross stitch cushion kit by Luca-S — a bright-eyed raccoon snuggles into a chunky pink knitted scarf and a blue woolly hat, with a little bird perched on top, after artwork by Alena Dabrynina.

A little stitcher's folklore: raccoons were said to be the wise little tricksters of the woods, bringing laughter wherever they go.

Why this kit: a charming, cosy design with 32 colours that turns into a handmade cushion for the sofa or a child's room.

Kit includes: 25-count natural Zweigart Fein-Floba evenweave for a 40×40 cm cushion, Anchor 100% cotton threads in 32 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. The cushion pad is not included.

Stitch over two threads of the evenweave, starting with the raccoon's eyes and mask, then the hat and bird, and finish with the knitted scarf.

Design size: 20×24 cm (7.9×9.4 in). Made up into a 40×40 cm cushion, it's a cosy handmade gift for animal lovers.
