Build a purple ghost plant, a mini building block plant kit by Wizardi: star-shaped leaves in soft purple with pale green highlights form a loose rosette around a small pink flower cluster on a slender stem, with three smaller rosettes around the base of a terracotta-style pot.

A little builder's folklore: the ghost plant gets its name from its soft, misty colour, and is said to watch kindly over the home at night.

Why this kit: if you like unusual colours, the dusky purple rosettes make this a standout on a plant shelf.

In the box: ABS building bricks for the plant and its little rust-orange pot, and an illustrated step-by-step instruction booklet. Not included: glue or tools, because none are needed.

How to build and display: press the bricks together by hand following the numbered steps, starting with the pot and finishing with the leaves and flowers. It is a quick, relaxing build for one evening; collect the series and line the pots up on a windowsill or desk, and they never need watering.

A cheerful little gift for a plant lover, a coworker or a teacher, a stocking stuffer, and a calm screen-free hobby for adults and teens. Recommended for ages 14 and up; small parts, keep away from young children.
