Soldier on Rocking Horse Christmas Wooden Nutcracker 12 in by Wizardi F07AM9-33-N01096B

Ride into Christmas with the Soldier on Rocking Horse, a wooden nutcracker by Wizardi — a classic soldier in a tall black top hat with a gold emblem, a fluffy white beard and a red cape trimmed in white fur over a green jacket. He sits astride a white rocking horse with a golden faux-fur mane, red reins and a painted saddle cloth, on green rockers decorated with a white pattern.

A little collector's folklore: the rocking horse was the most treasured gift a Victorian child could find under the tree, and collectors say this soldier rides out every Christmas Eve to check that every child has a toy waiting.

Why this nutcracker: if you love vintage toy-shop Christmas decor, he brings together two classics — the nutcracker and the rocking horse — in one charming piece. At about 12 inches he looks lovely on a mantel, sideboard or in a child's room.

In the box: one Soldier on Rocking Horse nutcracker in painted wood with faux-fur trim, mane and beard and a fabric cape. A decorative nutcracker, not intended for cracking nuts. Ready to display, no assembly needed.

Pair him with the royal rider (F07AM9-33-N01096A), or set him among vintage toys, wooden blocks and a little tree. Dust with a soft, dry brush and keep away from moisture and heat. A decoration, not a toy.

Size: 30 cm tall (11.8 in). Vintage toy-shop Christmas decor, and a nostalgic gift for collectors, grandparents and new families.
