The Starry Night after Van Gogh Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle by Wizardi F07N9-1

Piece together The Starry Night after Van Gogh, a wooden jigsaw puzzle by Wizardi: the famous swirling night sky over a sleeping village, with spiralling blue and gold clouds, a glowing crescent moon, blazing stars and a dark cypress tree reaching up in the foreground.

A little puzzler's folklore: Van Gogh painted this view from his window just before sunrise, and puzzlers say the swirls are easiest to sort by the direction of the brushstrokes.

Why this puzzle: if you love famous paintings, the bold brushwork makes every piece easy to recognise and satisfying to place.

In the box: laser-cut wooden pieces printed with the picture, a mix of classic interlocking pieces and whimsy pieces cut as little animals and figures such as giraffes, butterflies and dragonflies, packed in a gift box with the full picture on the front for reference. The box rates it 5A Challenger. Not included: a puzzle board or frame.

How to build it: turn every piece picture-side up, pick out the straight edges and the whimsy figures first, then sort the rest by colour and build inwards, using the box picture as your guide; the wood pieces lock firmly, so a finished section can be moved without falling apart.

Finished size 29.8 x 37 cm (11.7 x 14.6 in), a rectangular A3 picture, so it fits a coffee table while you work and a frame afterwards; a lovely gift for puzzle fans, art lovers and anyone who wants a calm, screen-free evening, and it goes back in the box to build again.
