A little stitcher's folklore: Victorian postmen wore red coats and were nicknamed robins, which is why so many early Christmas cards showed the little bird carrying the post.
Why this kit: Catherine Rowe's design is printed in full colour on twist interlock canvas and comes with Appletons wools, a favourite of traditional needlepointers.
Kit includes: 12-count full-colour printed Zweigart twist interlock canvas, Appletons tapestry wools, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Cushion backing and pad are not included.
Work tent stitch over the printed canvas, matching each wool to the colour beneath, then back the panel to make a cushion.
Finished size: about 35.5×35.5 cm (14×14 in), made up as a cushion front. A festive cushion to bring out every December.
