Stitch Regal, a tapestry kit by Bothy Threads — two blue peacocks face each other among butterflies and green fronds on a deep raspberry ground.

A little stitcher's folklore: Greek myth says the goddess Hera set the hundred eyes of the giant Argus into the peacock's tail after he fell asleep on guard.

Why this kit: Catherine Rowe's bold, symmetrical design is printed in full colour on interlock canvas and stitched in Appletons 100% pure English tapestry wools.

Kit includes: 12-count full-colour printed Zweigart interlock canvas, Appletons 100% pure English tapestry wools, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Cushion backing and pad are not included.

Work tent stitch over the printed canvas, matching each wool to the printed colour, then make up the panel as a cushion.

Finished size: about 35.5×35.5 cm (14×14 in), made up as a cushion front. A jewel-bright cushion for a sofa or bedroom chair.
