Build a jade star rosette, a mini building block succulent kit by Wizardi: pointed teal and jade leaves fan out like a star around a fluffy pale green centre bud, set in a sunny yellow hexagonal pot.

A little builder's folklore: star-shaped succulents are said to guide good luck home, which is why they are often given to people moving house.

Why this kit: if you like cool greens and a neat geometric shape, this rosette is calm, tidy and easy to build.

In the box: small ABS building bricks for the plant and its coloured pot, and an illustrated instruction sheet. Not included: glue or tools, because none are needed.

How to build and display: press the tiny bricks together by hand following the steps, building the pot first and then layering the leaves into a rosette. Collect a few and line them up on a desk, a shelf or a windowsill as a little succulent garden that never needs watering.

Size: 6 x 6 x 5 cm (2.4 x 2.4 x 2 in). A tiny desk plant, a party favour or a stocking stuffer, and a quick, relaxing build that takes well under an hour. Recommended for ages 14 and up; small parts, keep away from young children.
