Shape Pig with this Charivna Mit needle felting kit — a shaggy wild boar sow in deep brown wool leading three smaller mottled piglets, each with soft bristled coats and alert pointed ears.

Kit includes: color pattern, instruction chart, Corriedale wool in 2 colors, 2 felting needles, Preciosa beads in 1 color, and a pipe cleaner. Made in Ukraine.

Needle felting is worked by layering small tufts of wool and repeatedly poking them with a barbed felting needle, which tangles the fibers together and gradually compacts and shapes them into a firm 3D form. Work section by section — the bodies, snouts, and ears of the sow and piglets — following the included instructions, adding the bead eyes once the base shapes are felted.

Finished size: 7.5x16 cm (2.95x6.3 in). A rewarding 3D project and a charming handmade gift or collectible for a farm-animal or nature lover.

    I bought the pigs version but I ended up making a baby wild boar instead of a domesticated mom and baby piglets. The wool included was quite smooth and more difficult to felt than others I've used. The directions were all on one page with drawings instead of photographs. But the price was good.
