Stitch Celtic Poppies, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a ring of coral poppies with black stamens circles interlaced green Celtic knotwork on cream Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: poppies grew on the churned fields of Flanders after the First World War, which is why they became the flower of remembrance.

Why this kit: Beth Buffington's symmetrical design, from the Bothy Threads Summer 2025 Collection, includes black and white beads for the poppy centres.

Kit includes: 14-count cream Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, beads, needles and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Work the knotwork and petals in cross stitch from the centre outwards, add the stamens in back stitch, then sew on the beads and French knots.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A graphic floral piece that suits both cottage and modern rooms.
