Stitch Bursting Blooms, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — mauve bell flowers, leafy sprays and small butterflies radiate from a pink star at the centre of an ice blue ground.

A little stitcher's folklore: in the Victorian language of flowers, bellflowers stood for gratitude, so a posy of them was a way of saying thank you.

Why this kit: Beth Buffington's folk-art mandala, from the Bothy Threads Summer 2025 Collection, comes with black and white beads to add sparkle to the flower heads.

Kit includes: 14-count ice blue Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, beads, needles and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Start at the centre and work outwards in cross stitch, add the fine stems in back stitch, then finish with French knots and beads.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A soft, symmetrical design for a bedroom or sitting room.

Really such a quality kit. Design is beautiful and not too crazy complicated for the casual crafter. Great gift too!
