Stitch Welcome Little Sausage, a greeting card cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a dachshund puppy with a ribbon bow holds a floating balloon on a speckled ground.

A little stitcher's folklore: dachshund means 'badger dog' in German; their long bodies were bred to follow badgers down into their setts.

Why this kit: based on artwork by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs, it comes with threads to stitch the balloon and bow in either blue or pink, plus an alphabet for the baby's name.

Kit includes: 16-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a cream triple-fold card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions with an alphabet and number line for personalising. Threads are provided to work the design in either blue or pink. Stitches used: full cross stitches, back stitch and two French knots. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.

Choose blue or pink, stitch the puppy and balloon in cross stitch, add outlines in back stitch and the French knots, then personalise and mount it.

Finished size: 10×16 cm (3.9×6.3 in). A keepsake card to welcome a new baby.
