Stitch Guinea Be a Great Day, a greeting card cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a fluffy guinea pig in a blue party hat hugs a red present with a blue bow.

A little stitcher's folklore: guinea pigs are neither pigs nor from Guinea; they come from the Andes, and the name may come from the guinea coin they once cost in England.

Why this kit: based on artwork by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs and featured in Bothy Threads' Especially For You book, it comes in the new plastic-free packaging.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida printed with Bothy Threads' exclusive Wrendale Designs speckle, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and two French knots. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.

Stitch the guinea pig and present in cross stitch, add the outlines in back stitch and the two French knots, then mount it in the card.

Finished size: 10×16 cm (3.9×6.3 in). A cheerful birthday card for animal lovers of any age.
