Stitch Mognificent Day, a greeting card cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — three party cats balance a kitten in a hat amid bubbly, balloons and presents under 'happy birthday'.

A little stitcher's folklore: 'moggy' has been British slang for a cat since the early 1900s and may come from 'Maggie', once a common name for a cow or a cat.

Why this kit: based on artwork licensed from Cockadoodle Cards by Draw, it comes with an A5 card mount and an alphabet to add a name.

Kit includes: 16-count antique white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, an A5 cream card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions with an alphabet for personalising. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.

Stitch the cats in cross stitch, add the lettering and outlines in back stitch and the French knots, then personalise and mount it in the card.

Finished size: 10×16 cm (3.9×6.3 in). A playful birthday card for a cat lover.
