Stitch Lab Report, a greeting card cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a black Labrador vet in a white coat checks a patient pup under the words 'lab report' and 'get well soon'.

A little stitcher's folklore: Labradors actually come from Newfoundland, where they helped fishermen haul in nets, not from Labrador next door.

Why this kit: based on artwork licensed from Cockadoodle Cards by Draw, it comes with an A5 card mount and an alphabet to add a name.

Kit includes: 16-count antique white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, an A5 cream card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions with an alphabet for personalising. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.

Stitch the dogs and shelves in cross stitch, add the lettering and outlines in back stitch and the French knots, then personalise and mount it.

Finished size: 10×16 cm (3.9×6.3 in). A smile-raising get-well card for a dog lover.
