Stitch Loads of Love, a greeting card cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a hedgehog drives a green tractor tipping out a trailer load of red hearts under 'Loads of love'.
A little stitcher's folklore: early Valentine's messages in Britain were handwritten; printed cards only took off with the Penny Post in 1840.
Why this kit: based on original artwork from The Margaret Sherry Collection, it is a landscape card with an A5 card mount and an alphabet to personalise it.
Kit includes: 14-count antique white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, an A5 cream card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions with an alphabet for personalising. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and one French knot. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.
Stitch the tractor and hearts in cross stitch, add the lettering and outlines in back stitch and the French knot, then personalise and mount it.
Finished size: 16×10 cm (6.3×3.9 in), landscape. A fun Valentine's or anniversary card for a farmer or tractor fan.
