Stitch The Fairy Ring, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — harvest mice peep out from a cluster of red-and-white spotted toadstools.

A little stitcher's folklore: a ring of toadstools was said to mark where fairies had danced all night; step inside and you might be trapped for years.

Why this kit: Hannah Dale's loose, watercolour-style animals translate beautifully into stitch, and the printed speckle on the Aida gives the finished piece its signature Wrendale feel.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, back stitch and two French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the toadstools and mice in cross stitch from the centre, then add the outlines in back stitch and the two French knots.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A magical piece for a nursery or reading nook.
