Stitch Growing Old Together, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — two spaniels, one brown and white and one black, curl up side by side to sleep.

A little stitcher's folklore: spaniels take their name from 'Espaigneul', the Old French for 'Spanish dog'.

Why this kit: a Wrendale Designs favourite by Hannah Dale, it is full of character, with plenty of expression to bring out as you stitch.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the dogs in cross stitch from the centre of the chart, then add the fur and outlines in back stitch.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A loving anniversary or Valentine's gift.
