Stitch The Bedtime Kiss, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a mother fox bends to kiss one of her three cubs as they tumble around her.

A little stitcher's folklore: fox cubs are born blind in spring and stay close to the earth until they are about four weeks old.

Why this kit: from Bothy Threads' long-running Wrendale Designs range by Hannah Dale, it matches the rest of the collection if you want to build a gallery wall.

Kit includes: 16-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, fractional stitches and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the foxes in cross stitch from the centre, work the fractionals where shown, then add the fur details in back stitch.

Finished size: 33×25 cm (13×9.8 in). A tender family piece for a nursery or Mother's Day.
