Stitch Eucalyptus, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a round robin nestles in a sprig of silvery-green eucalyptus leaves.

A little stitcher's folklore: eucalyptus leaves were hung indoors in winter by Victorian households for their fresh, clean scent.

Why this kit: a 15 cm round design by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs, sized to display in an embroidery hoop, and a quick, satisfying project, in Bothy Threads' plastic-free packaging.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, back stitch and one French knot. The hoop shown is not included.

Stitch the robin and leaves in cross stitch from the centre, then add the stems in back stitch and the French knot.

Finished size: 15 cm round (5.9 in). A small festive piece to finish in a hoop.
