Stitch Scottie, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a shaggy black Scottish terrier in a red spotted bow tie sits with its tail up.

A little stitcher's folklore: a Scottie named Fala was so famous as President Roosevelt's companion that he has his own statue at the Roosevelt memorial in Washington.

Why this kit: based on artwork by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs, it is stitched on Aida printed with Bothy Threads' exclusive speckled background.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the terrier in cross stitch from the centre of the chart, then add the fur and outlines in back stitch.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A dapper piece for a Scottie owner or dog lover.
